Today was the day! Our first day breaking off into small groups to visit the preschool centers! Woohoo! (Kara told us we have to have lots of energy to work with preschoolers, so that’s what I’m going for here.)
My super cool compañera for the month, Elizabeth, and I had the good fortune of being assigned to Boombalee Kidz: the furthest walk, but the coolest kids. (I am completely biased and I don’t feel bad about it.) Our center has tons of friendly teachers and lots of excited kids, so I’m really looking forward to working with them the next couple weeks! Today was all about rapport-building, which we learned is a super important part of research, and I think especially when you’re working in a school. We met with the director and ironed out all the details of the time we’d be spending with the kids, were introduced to the other teachers, and then basically just got to play with the kids for half an hour. Not a bad gig!
All in all, probably the best first day of school ever (because I got to play with play dough and draw A LOT of flowers instead of listening to lectures). Is it too late to go back to preschool?
